She is long of leg and torso, with a smaller chest. Her build is toned and lean. Her complexion is fair and she tans easily. Her hair is kept just above shoulder length, and the color is very much affected by the amount of time spent in the sun. It is a sandy blond with reddish-blond highlights. Her eyes are a light, clear blue. She considers them to be her best feature. She has a more prominent nose which has a slight downturn--her least favorite feature. Her lips are full and the top and bottom are proportionate to one another. She prefers to wear clothing of darker colors, such as black, crimson, dark blue and dark brown. Personality: Raine is very level headed. She doesn't like dealing with people, but if forced into a leadership position she will rise to the occasion. She has a quick thinking mind and doesn't usually require more than a few seconds to act or formulate a plan even in dire situations or stressful events. She is very tactical and is capable of both doing and thinking in unity. These are her strong points. She likes to be where things are going on; she grows bored when there is nothing to do. She is quite neutral when it comes to social events. She is not the best team player and does not make friends easily. She is often seen as too serious, too stoic in behavior, too schooled. She is still uncertain who she wants to be as a person. She will talk to anyone, and deal with anyone, but never in a manner that lets anyone in. She seems to have nerves of steel regarding actions that need to be taken, even if she often feels out of place--she doesn't shun hard work or her duties. She doesn't seem to fit in, even though in all outward respects one would not understand how she feels this way in relation to how she behaves outwardly. In a social situation, it is often like someone else is speaking and not her. Surreal would be the closest approximation to how she feels. Relationships aren't easy for her, but she has never really had the need for them. Friends she could make, and has before, yet she has built walls around herself and doesn't want to let others in. She wants to protect the people in her Weyr, and has no real need to be protected in her mind. Still it feels more like duty than the 'caring' it should be. In relationships she takes a dominant role, and is not good at submitting to those that may outrank her or know better. She is just not the submissive kind. She does not like drinking save for a single glass of wine here or there. She likes to be in control and if there is one thing she fears other than death, it is not being in control of herself. Freedom of choice, and control over her mind, are very important to her. She is not always the most patient of people, because she expects others to act and react as quickly as she does. Lazy people, people who are afraid to do something so let it stand in the way of getting it done, are considered a lot less useful to her than productive people. She will shoulder her fair share but fully expects others to do the same. History: Birth season: Summer Relatives: Bronzerider R'ai (Deceased) Greenrider Kayane (Deceased) Background: Raine led the life of a typical Weyrbrat; raised in the creche as a 'child of the Weyr', with minimal contact from either of her parents. It was not as if she cared one way or the other. She was fed, clothed, and had companionship. She was free to come and go about the Weyr as she chose, and there were the same options available to her as to every other child of dragonriding parents: she could Stand or take up a craft. Even working in the position as a kitchen worker or drudge would have been acceptable. Freedom was always important to her. Even as a child being told what to do, if it didn't agree with her, never sat well. Still, rules were rules, and were followed even if begrudgingly at times. She was a very independent child from the get go, who preferred to work alone rather than with others. She never quite felt as if she fit in, and hated the drama that came with relationships. She tended toward more individualistic activities, such as art, or reading and writing. She enjoyed looking at the stars and wondering what was out there, beyond Pern. She tended to look at things differently and paid a lot of attention to the world around her--even if she didn't always feel like she wanted to be involved in it. At her lessons, she did relatively well, save for in group activities, where she would grow impatient with the others who slacked off, often causing her to lose her temper until she better learned to control it. She was too quick to judge other people, and not nearly as quick to trust anyone. Especially not to do things 'right'. A job was always better done oneself, in her opinion. It was always a flaw of hers. When she was fourteen, she stood. However, she only stayed a candidate until sixteen, deciding she didn't want to waste time doing the menial chores only. It might have been a great honor, and it might have been something she wanted. Yet there were too many around her who stood and never Impressed. She figured if it was meant to be, it would. So she decided to work on something else. Several 'something else's'. Because she could never quite settle on one, she ended up fluctuating from thing to thing. She learned to hunt, did art, working with old scrolls to copy them into newer versions. She worked with runners for a turn as well. Nothing ever seemed to fit, just like she did not seem to fit. Then, none of that really seemed to matter. The plague the broke across all of Pern was terrifying, at best. Luckily, it passed her by. She had friends, true. But after the first few died off, she hardened even more than ever before. She numbed herself to it, and bottled the emotion and fear. She was nearly nineteen by the time it finally died out. A lucky survivor, and she knew it. That was her identity then: a survivor. One of many. Only her age had saved her, and she was more at a loss of what to do then than ever. Only because of the situation, she ended up stepping up to the plate and deciding to help do what she could. Even if doing what she could was hunting for the most part. Or helping in the infirmary. Never really knowing what she wanted to be, of course she accepted being a candidate for the new Weyr. Everyone who she'd known or even cared about had died. She'd always gotten on better with older people than herself. The couple friends she did have around her age did not make it, because they, unlike her, were in their early twenties. Never had she felt so isolated. At a time when people were banding together, she was growing further apart. She never expected to Impress. She was nineteen, and true that was young enough still. Only she'd given up thoughts of Impressing three Turns ago. Why now? And why did it have to be the dragon that was gold? The position of Weyrwoman...she had not wanted that. It would force her into being the Senior Weyrwoman of a Weyr just setting out. And she had no clue how she was going to survive it. Dragon: Dragon's name: Chemith Dragon's colour: Gold Dragon's age: 2 Turns. Dragon's size: 42 feet. Dragon's wingspan: 69 feet. Dragon's appearance: Chemith is a very pale gold, and has darker stripes that cover her from her top of her head to the end of her tail. They resemble the stripes of a Terran tiger. Her undersides from head to tail are a lighter, white gold. In size, she will be a force to be reckoned with, a larger gold. Her form is lithe and yet toned, with a long, whippy tail and tapered wings that will make her a fantastic flier. She has a dignified feline grace about her that causes her to move very lithely despite her size. Dragon's personality: Chemith is a young gold, and has a lot of pride. She needs to learn humility and patience. She is known to have a bad temper and to speak without thinking. She expects to be respected and admired, quite unaware of her own faults, even if her rider is painfully aware and tries to teach her gold how to be a proper leader and role model. Despite being overly proud and having much to learn, Chemith truly loves her rider, her Weyr and all of the people, dragons and creatures living in it. She strives hard to be a good leader, and is unwavering in her loyalty and courage. She expects the best from others, but does not give less than her best herself. She is constantly seeking to be the best she can be. She can be demanding, bossy and temperamental, yet for all of that she is a dragon who cares about others and truly puts others before herself. Only time can see her become the proper leader she was meant to be. Dragon's clutch: n/a [/style] |
