Read them. Learn them. Abide by them. Or face the wrath of the army of rabid sporks!
1. No God-Mod or power playing here. Your dragon and creatures are not all powerful and unbeatable. You may not control another person's character or creatures in any way. This applies to everyone, so we ask that you keep it in mind when on the boards.
2. H.A.D and H.A.W are a rarity in the Pern world. Understandably there is a limited number of slots available for each here. We prefer to give these to people who have earned them and have been here a while, and you may not simply apply stating that you are one. Once the slots are filled, however, we won't be accepting any more.
3. Dragons are never an easy task to give out. We base what color of dragon you get off of a few integral things here. The first is your character's personality. The second is your level of activity. Those are the main two which effect our decision. Dragons are written first, matched later. However, in deciding color, the length of time you have been here and what you already have, along with activity level, will aid in this.
4. You must have your character sheet accepted and moved into the accepted character's board before you begin to role play on the boards. Be sure to have the link to your profiles in your signature.
5. If you are coming in with a full rider, flitt or wher, it may not be anything above the regular five Pern colors, and there will be a limit on the number of metallic and higher ranking colors allowed to be brought in.
5. Everything you get on this site is earned. It gives you a sense of pride in your accomplishments and makes things fairer for all. The marks system was instilled here to ensure equal opportunity for all members. It's up to you to be active and save the marks needed or to show you are deserving of the rarer and higher ranking coloration of dragons, flitts and other creatures.
6. All flights and runs must be approved beforehand by the admin. If your dragon or creature is capable of clutching, the admin and SC will help decide which colors and how many eggs there will be. It is generally up to you to decide who is given what dragon or critter, but we as admin will need to be given your list to ensue that it is fair, based on activity, the applications, personality of the player's character and what they already have.
6. Eggs, Dragons, Whers and Flitts as well as all other creatures are the job of the clutch/creature owner and the Search Committee and admins to write up. No one impressing or receiving a creature may write up anything but egg descriptions. We do this to ensure no one knows beforehand what they may get. This is a fun way to get everyone revved and involved in the hatchings and creature give outs!
7. If you are going to be absent for more than a few days, it's up to you to post in the absent board. If you are gone a week without posting there, we will send you an email requesting that you do. If you are gone for 2 weeks, a warning email will be sent. A third warning is sent the third week and on a month we will delete all inactive accounts who have not posted in the absent board or activity check for the month.
8. This group is a literate to advanced group. We do expect a certain level of spelling, grammar and post length to be met. We appreciate when you mirror posts-matching the other person's post length if possible-but we understand that this is not always possible. We do not, however, accept constant single paragraphs and persons who post one liners or a couple of sentences will be warned and then deleted from the site. Aim for two paragraphs or more if you can--we really appreciate the effort and so do the other members!
9. New creatures and colors will be consistently introduced here. Expect it. Be excited about it. But do not bring in any new colors or creatures of your own until they are introduced on the role playing boards and approved by admin.
10. If you have any problems or complaints about another member, take the matter first to an admin. Secondly, the admin will bring this issue to the attention of the person you've made the complaint about. The third step, if both parties are not objectionable to the matter, is to hold a private discussion thread with a mediator, the admin and that member to get things sorted out as soon and as effectively as possible. We like everyone to get along here, but we realize that problems do arise, and we like to get things back to friendly asap!
11. No arguing on cbox, or on the boards, or anywhere on this site at all. If you have to take your problems to PM or IM, so be it. Really, your best interest is to have it sorted out between yourselves maturely away from the boards. We don't like gossip. We don't like back stabbing. We like honest people who can deal with any debates or issues that arise and then move right along.
12. This board is rated PG-13. Anything above will be looked upon harshly. Keep sexual content at this level. Keep language Pern level. Use your censored word boxes. Be creative. But keep it user-friendly for younger and older players alike!
13. Unusual hair coloration is permitted within moderation. We only accept red, pale blond and ebony black at the time. Any other dyes would just be too hard to come by on Pern, and we don't want extremists with pink, purple, green or blue hair here. Same for eye coloration: keep it real, my dears. No pink, red, purple...you get the idea. Golden brown and the rare slight off color may be permitted, especially with our half-humanoids. But nothing too extreme, once again. Most people on Pern sport brown hair and brown eyes. Too many blue eyed black haired people or green/blue eyes and red hair gets old fast, as well. Keep it real!
14. Dragons do not impress to people who are too disabled to have them. Any cripple, blind, deaf or mentally challenged person will not be able to impress a dragon or wher. They choose people sound in mind and body.
15. All dragon names end in 'th'. All wher names end in 'sk'. The only exception to this rule is the aurora and flame dragons. Try to make it so your characters names don't. I understand there will be the rare exception but generally it is preferred you don't. Keep the Pernese names Pern, and the Terran ones as you like.
16. When creating characters, you may have 1 Terran for every 4 characters you have. This means if you're starting out, you may start out with 1 Terran and 1 Pernese, but until you have made 2 more characters so that you have four in total, you may not make the another Terran, so a 3:1 ratio. Keep in mind we want realistic male to female ratios here, too. Try to keep it fairly even, we'd love if you made one male for every female, if things get out of hand we'll make this a requirement.
Finally, have fun! This is what I revived this site for, this is why I want you here. To remember why you fell in love with role playing to begin with, to enjoy in the almost family-like atmosphere of friends whom you can feel free to be yourself with and have a great time. Abide by the rules, and everything else is free to you!
